Noctis arrives alone in the imperial capital of Gralea after being separated from his companions and stripped of his conventional weapons and magic. He must navigate the dark, magitek-infested corridors of Zegnautus Keep wielding only the Ring of the Lucii to restore power, locate his friends, and reach the Crystal. Along the way, players can choose to experience Noctis's path or switch to an alternate route following Gladiolus and Ignis.

Tips
- Use Death with the Ring of the Lucii on standard magitek troopers from a safe distance to drain their health and recover your own.
- Cast Holy by dodging right as an enemy attacks; this deals significant area-of-effect Light damage without consuming excessive MP.
- When encountering Foras before gaining the ability to fight back properly, sprint past him and use the automated doors or hiding spots in lockers to break his pursuit.
- Rest at the designated dormitory beds scattered throughout Zegnautus Keep to save progress and trigger checkpoint updates.
