Boss Battles
Major boss encounters in Persona 3 Reload occur during Full Moon operations outside Tartarus and at barrier floors (Gatekeepers) within Tartarus itself. Preparation requires adjusting Persona skill loadouts, balancing party affinity coverage, and stocking appropriate buff and recovery items. Success against these bosses relies heavily on exploiting specific weaknesses, managing status ailments, and leveraging the Shift mechanic to maintain momentum.
Enemies
First Full Moon boss encountered on the monorail; summons Ice-weak minions and fights under a strict real-time timer.
Full Moon pair; Emperor shifts between physical resistances while Empress shifts magic affinities, requiring scanning with Fuuka to identify shifting weaknesses.
Fought inside the hotel; primarily uses Electric and Strike attacks and frequently attempts to inflict Fear on party members.
Second hotel boss; uses Charm skills extensively, making status-curing items like Narcissus-derived accessories or Me Patra essential.
Tank-like duo in the underground facility that must be defeated simultaneously or knocked down together to prevent them from shielding each other.
Fought in the underground club; charges electricity to deliver massive party-wide lightning damage and places Charge spots on the floor.
Roulette-wielding wheel boss alongside a physical bruiser; mastering the timing on Fortune's wheel allows you to force favorable buff or damage outcomes.
Hovers out of melee reach and drops statues (Right Hand, Left Hand); destroying the statues brings the main body down to floor level for normal attacks.
Tips
- Maintain Tarunda, Rakukaja, and Sukunda debuffs during major boss encounters, as reducing an enemy's hit rate and attack power is vital for surviving their multi-target damage phases.
- Fuuka's Sylphid Aura Theurgy should be activated before initiating any planned Gatekeeper fight inside Tartarus to enter battle with party-wide buffs already applied.
- Equipping accessories that provide Charm or Fear immunity completely neutralizes the primary gimmicks of the Lovers and Hierophant boss encounters.
- Shifting to a party member who has an active Theurgy gauge after scoring a Critical or Weakness hit lets you bypass boss defense phases with severe unblockable damage.
- Stock plenty of multi-target healing items and reviving items like Revivadrin from the pharmacy so support characters do not waste entire turns relying purely on SP-heavy revives.
