Black Root Burrows is an optional dark cavern area introduced in the Definitive Edition, accessed early in the game near the Sunken Glades. Ori must carry a glowing light orb to illuminate pathing, activate ancient lanterns, and bypass shadow barriers. Exploring deep within the burrows leads to an ancestral tree and grants access to the Lost Grove.

Tips
- Dropping the Light Orb lets you freely attack enemies, but dark brambles and deadly areas become invisible if you step too far away from it.
- You can throw the Light Orb across gaps and onto higher ledges to reveal footholds before jumping.
- The Dash ability acquired here can be used immediately to cross laser traps and reach previously inaccessible secrets across Nibel.
