Key fights

Second Sister

Enemies: Second Sister

Threats: Burrowing surprise attacks, web-spitting projectiles that inflict Entangled/slow, tail whip combos, and wall-clinging poison darts

Weaknesses and resistances: Susceptible to Burn/Fire damage and Stagger; weak to Immobilize during long recovery animations

Tactics: Dodge her subterranean lunges by sprinting sideways, bait her overhead tail slams to create attack windows, and freeze her with Immobilize to land heavy charged strikes

Rewards: Will, Silk, Refined Iron Sand, Mind Core

Zhu Bajie (First Encounter)

Enemies: Zhu Bajie

Threats: Rake swings, earth-shattering shockwaves, mud-slinging dashes, and quick evasive rolls

Weaknesses and resistances: Low poise, prone to interruption by heavy stance combos; resistant to Earth/Mud slowdown

Tactics: Keep a medium distance to bait his triple rake combo, dodge behind his final slam, and punish with Smash Stance heavy attacks

Rewards: Will, Experience

Buddha's Right Hand

Enemies: Buddha's Right Hand (emerging from a giant cocoon)

Threats: Giant hand slams, poison claw sweeps, shockwave palm thrusts, and wall-crawling overhead crushes

Weaknesses and resistances: Highly immobile while tethered; vulnerable to heavy stagger, burns, and Pillar Stance

Tactics: Stay near its side to avoid straight palm thrusts, use Pillar Stance to stay elevated above poison ground puddles, and unleash heavy combos on the knuckles to sever it

Rewards: Right Hand of Buddha (Gourd upgrade/material), Will, Refined Iron Sand

Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw

Enemies: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw (giant poisonous toad)

Threats: Toxic gas belches, sweeping tongue strikes, delayed belly flops, and ground-rupturing water-poison blasts

Weaknesses and resistances: Vulnerable to Fire damage, Immobilize, and posture breaks from behind; highly resistant to Poison

Tactics: Dodge into its forward belly-flop to get directly behind its hind legs, avoid standing in persistent toxic puddles, and punish with Spirit attacks

Rewards: Tadpole, Will, Refined Iron Sand

Commander Beetle

Enemies: Commander Beetle (surrounded by praying beetle disciples)

Threats: Dual-blade cleaves, flying dive bombs, erratic charge attacks, and summoning nearby insect minions into frenzy

Weaknesses and resistances: Disciples die easily to area-of-effect spells; beetle itself has low hyper-armor during aerial descents

Tactics: Clear out surrounding beetle disciples with Pluck of Many or Wide Sweeps first, use Rock Solid to deflect his lunging dual-blade attack, and counter with thrust heavy attacks

Rewards: Commander Beetle Spirit, Will, Refined Iron Sand

Zhu Bajie (Second Encounter)

Enemies: Zhu Bajie (Human form, followed by giant Mud Boar and Rhino forms)

Threats: Mud Boar rampages, burrowing charges through mud waves, devastating multi-hit tusks, and water/mud projectiles

Weaknesses and resistances: Vulnerable to Fire and Burn damage; giant forms are slow to turn

Tactics: Sprint diagonally to dodge his mud-burrow charges, cast Immobilize when he surfaces, and maintain positioning by his hindquarters in mud-beast form

Rewards: Jade Moon Rabbit (Curio), Will, Cold Iron Leaves, Fine Gold Thread

Enemies

Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master
Weak to Weaver's Needle vessel

The main boss of the chapter who creates a massive golden realm that dramatically restricts stamina unless dispelled with the Weaver's Needle.

The Duskveil

The final boss of Purple Cloud Mountain who transitions through two distinct, aggressive phases.

The Scorpionlord

A fiercely aggressive optional boss found drinking atop a roof in Purple Cloud Mountain who hits extremely hard with pincer and stinger combos.

Venom Daoist
Weak to Fire

A recurring boss fight with multi-armed melee attacks that unlocks access to the secret realm.

Right Hand of Buddha

A grotesque boss found in the caverns disguised as a giant resting hand that transforms into a mobile threat.

Centipede Guai
Weak to Fire

An early multi-legged boss fought in an enclosed hollow arena that curls up and rolls toward the player.

Shops and people

  • Shen Monkey: Sells gourd upgrades, brew materials, and seasonal soak items at the Cellar / shrines.

Tips

  • Equipping the Weaver's Needle vessel is essential for the second phase of the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master, as activating it immediately shatters his disorienting golden fog domain.
  • Pack medicine to cure the Poison state, as numerous spider foes, cocoons, and environmental hazards throughout the hollow inflict rapid poison buildup.
