Key fights

Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw

Enemies: Giant stone/sand frog Yaoguai Chief

Threats: Tongue sweeps, belly flops, leaping ground-slams, and spitting blinding mud

Weaknesses and resistances: High posture vulnerability to heavy jump smashes; slow recovery windows

Tactics: Keep to its flanks to bait slow turning kicks, dodge backward when it charges belly slams, and interrupt its mud spitting with Immobilize

Rewards: Tadpole (material), Blood of the Iron Bull, Will, Silk

King of Flowing Sands and Second Rat Prince

Enemies: Royal rat duo (King commands from stone pillars, Second Prince attacks on foot)

Threats: King hurls explosive projectile rocks and buffs his son; Prince uses giant club sweeps, lunging cleaves, and sand stomp shockwaves

Weaknesses and resistances: King has low health if reached on his perch; Prince enters a berserk frenzy if the King is slain first

Tactics: Focus and kill the King atop the stone pillars first using ranged Spirits/Pillar Stance to prevent buffing and obtain the Second Rat Prince Spirit, or burn down the Prince to capture the King's Pungent Flesh

Rewards: Keenness of Stone (if Prince slain first) or Second Prince Spirit / Pungent Flesh, Silk, Yaoguai Core, Will

First Prince of Flowing Sands

Enemies: Hulking bipedal rat beast summoned via the Pungent Flesh or bell chimes in Valley of Despair

Threats: Relentless sweeping claws, burrowing charges, ground slams that break stone walls, and wide tail swipes

Weaknesses and resistances: Extremely aggressive with high poise; susceptible to stagger from colliding with arena walls

Tactics: Lure his charges into the cracked stone wall at the edge of the arena to instantly stagger him and crack the wall (revealing the Loong Scales chamber); punish with heavy charged smashes

Rewards: Arhat Gold Piece, Blood of the Iron Bull, Will, Silk

Tiger's Acolyte

Enemies: Corrupted human swordsman Yaoguai Chief on the canyon bridge

Threats: Fast unsheathe Iai slashes, teleporting lunges, delayed blade thrusts, and kicking combos on a narrow bridge

Weaknesses and resistances: Fragile posture; low poise against Pillar Stance attacks

Tactics: Fight in the center of the wooden bridge rather than near edges; parry or deflect with Rock Solid when he sheathes his blade, then punish with full light attack chains

Rewards: Tiger's Acolyte Spirit, Old Rattle-Clothe, Blood of the Iron Bull, Will

Gore-Eye Daoist

Enemies: Staff-wielding cultist Yaoguai Chief

Threats: Erects a glowing red ritual array that buffs his attacks and inflicts sustained area damage, fires homing blood projectiles, and summons exploding totems

Weaknesses and resistances: Low physical defense and easily staggered out of ritual chanting

Tactics: Rush him down immediately at the start of the fight before he completes the blood boundary; use Immobilize to halt his ritual and burst him with Red Tides transformation

Rewards: Gore-Eye Daoist Spirit, Blood of the Iron Bull, Will, Silk

"Tiger Vanguard" (Secret Sahālī Version)

Enemies: The younger, agile Tiger Vanguard fought in the Kingdom of Sahālī past

Threats: Extremely swift claw rakes, high-jumping downward sword slams, roar shockwaves, and rapid tracking pounces

Weaknesses and resistances: Susceptible to Thrust Stance counters; pauses after executing full blade combos

Tactics: Maintain mid-range spacing to bait his plunging blade thrust, dodge sideways through his lunges, and counter-attack with Cloud Step backstabs

Rewards: Tiger Tally (Curio), Will, Mind Core

Enemies

Yellow Wind Sage

The final boss of Chapter 2 who summons devastating sand tornados; using the Wind Tamer vessel completely dispels his storm phase.

Tiger Vanguard

Found at Crouching Tiger Temple inside a blood pool; uses rapid sword strikes and stone-skin feints.

Stone Vanguard

Found in Fright Cliff; can be fought normally or weakened/distracted by collecting all Buddha Eyeballs to awaken Shigandang nearby.

Shigandang

Hidden secret boss awakened by collecting six Buddha Eyeballs scattered around Fright Cliff and interacting with the large stone face.

Shops and people

  • Man-in-Stone: Unlocked as a merchant in Fright Cliff after defeating him and exhausting his dialogue; sells transformation items, curios, and upgrade materials like the Sobering Stone.

Tips

  • Prioritize completing the Kingdom of Sahali secret area before challenging the Yellow Wind Sage, as the Wind Tamer reward counters his second-phase storm attacks entirely.
  • Search around Fright Cliff to interact with all glowing Buddha heads to gather six Buddha Eyeballs, which allows you to summon Shigandang to fight the Stone Vanguard for you.
